Our focus is on Consulting, Forensic Engineering, and Seminars. We are in the New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York area.

Mr. Berson believes that quality of service is founded upon the application of professional ethics, integrity, and objectivity. Astute clients, current and future, can draw comfort from that philosopy of practice.

Customized services, based upon Mr. Berson's professional experience, are formulated for each client. His overview of the Engineering Profession is based upon over forty-five years of professional practice, coupled with his extensive involvement as a leader of the Professional Engineering Community.

Mr. Berson has held high offices in both the New Jersey and National Societies of Professional Engineers. His work on multiple task forces and committees has afforded him the opportunity of broad contact with engineers from throughout the region and the nation, providing him with a credible and authoritative overview of standards of conduct for the profession.

Mr. Berson has co-authored a book targeted at engineering students and recent entries to the field.  The book, Career  Success in Engineering, was published in January, 2007.

CLIENT SERVICE

While acting as a faithful agent to his clients, Mr. Berson is also committed to acting as an objective expert. His belief is that objective and independent analysis and assessment of factual records is essential. He opines:

"Even negative findings are useful, so long as they are based upon properly evaluated facts. Such findings can be very useful in guiding a client's decision-making process related to an adversarial process, or claim."

SHORT BIO

Mr. Berson holds a BS in Civil Engineering, University of Connecticut, 1957, and an MS in Civil Engineering, Newark College of Engineering, 1966. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and Land Surveyor in New Jersey, New York (inactive), Pennsylvania, and Connecticut(Retired). He is also licensed as a Professional Engineer in Delaware and Massachusetts, and as a Licensed Professional Land Surveyor in Virginia and Maryland (Retired).

He is member of the New Jersey Society of Professional Engineers, and a Fellow Member of of the National Society of Professional Engineers. He is a Senior Member of the National Academy of Forensic Engineers.  He also holds membership in the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Garden State Land Surveyors Alliance, and the New Jersey Society of Muncipal Engineers.

His five decades of experience in engineering and land surveying included operation of his own practice for nearly thirty years. When he retired in 2000 from a three year stint as principal of a major Municipal Consulting Engineering Firm, he  established a consulting practice offering general consultation, forensic engineering, and presentation of seminars.

Mr. Berson has served as an Executive Officer of the Private Practice Division of the National Society of Professional Engineers, serving as Division Chair in 2001-2002. He has served in a variety of leadership and committee roles in engineering societies over the past twenty years, thereby acquiring an insightful overview of the engineering profession. 

In July 2007 Mr. Berson was installed as NSPE President.  The membership of NSPE is approximately 45,000.  He now serves as Chair of the Mentoring Task Force, as a member of the Licensure and Qualifications for Practice Committee, and Chair of the Past Presidents Council.

Mr. Berson has written numerous articles for a nationally circulated A/E journal,and for four years was the producer of "PEPP Talk", an electronic newsletter with a circulation of approximately 13,000 members of the NSPE/PEPP organization. He has presented Continuing Professional Development Seminars to engineers, architects and land surveyors, many in participation with construction claims attorneys.

Mr. Berson has received a number of State and National Awards for his service and achievements in professional activities. Most recently, in 1997 he was recognized and honored by the University of Connecticut School of Engineering as Distinguished Engineering Alumnus.  In 2000 he was elevated to the status of Fellow Member of NSPE.
